Blue Medora Extends IBM Tivoli Monitoring to the Amazon Cloud

2010-04-26

New Blue Medora Agents extends IBM Tivoli Monitoring to Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3 Cloud Services

Grand Rapids, MI - April 26th, 2010 -- Blue Medora, a leader in extending IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM), today released two new products in its line of “IBM Ready for Tivoli” validated solutions that enable customers to extend their ITM investments by seamlessly providing in-depth monitoring and management, and increased visibility to critical IT infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services.

  • Blue Medora Agent for Amazon Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)
  • Blue Medora Agent for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)

As enterprises move to the cloud, many want additional monitoring and management of applications.  Blue Medora’s two new products extend ITM by providing automatic discovery, deeply integrated monitoring, performance tracking, and remote management capabilities for Amazon EC2 based virtual server infrastructure and Amazon S3 based storage resources.

"Our customers have invested deeply in IBM’s market leading Service and Availability Performance Management (SAPM) product set," said Nathan Owen, CEO of Blue Medora. “They are rightfully resistant to the idea of implementing brand new management products for managing Cloud based infrastructure.  By extending Tivoli Monitoring to Amazon EC2 and S3, Blue Medora provides customers with a holistic view of the health, availability, and performance of critical IT resources simultaneously across their traditional datacenter and the Amazon Cloud.”

“More and more companies – large and small – are running IBM software on Amazon Web Services, in part because AWS offers the sort of durable environment that serious line-of-business applications require,” said Terry Wise, director of business development for Amazon Web Services.  “Blue Medora is extending IBM Tivoli Monitoring to enable familiar enterprise management tools to also monitor the AWS cloud.”

As an IBM PartnerWorld member, all of Blue Medora’s monitoring agents for ITM have been designed from the ground up to look, feel, and operate like existing IBM-developed ITM agents, and all have been validated by IBM as Ready for IBM Tivoli.  Blue Medora’s products operate as first-class citizens of the ITM ecosystem—fully integrated with Tivoli Enterprise Management Server (TEMS), Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP), Tivoli Data Warehouse (TDW), Tivoli Common Reporting (TCR), and other core ITM components.
